BBC Dart 360's

Postby BOSSMAN on Wed Oct 21, 2009 9:00 pm

I've been working on a older set of BBC Dart 360's that have been worked over multiple times. These previous guys (Ohio, Texas, Iowa?) did alot of tricks to make these things FLOW! They need a fair amount of repair (welding mainly) along with the Intake Manifold and the valve seats corrected. The baseline flow numbers went turbulent really bad at about .550 lift :bandhead: (due to the wrong valve job put in it) but came around after I gave it one of my Custom Valve Jobs :thumb: . They should do around 460cfm @ 1.00" lift if I had a long enough valve to test it. I'm working on various back cuts on the Intake valve right now to get the mid flow numbers (.100-.500) up as much as possible without hurting the upper lift numbers. Hoping to make them good at about .750-.800 lift MAX. I don't want to push these things very hard due to their age and all of the repair work needed to make them right.

Pic of the Valve Job done to the Intake Seat. You can still see the big ledge left on the Exhaust Seat that still needs corrected. Also still need to do some hand blending.

All of the prep work is now done for the welding. Took them to my welder and should have them back within a week or two. The big task is to replicate the stands for the shaft system that somebody else started.

After taking most of the Winter off.......Time to get back at it! The stands are welded just need machined now for the shaft system and bolt threads repaired. Guides are honed and will need to touch up the seats again. Been working on the ports, doing some reshaping in some areas. Here is some more progress:
