Super Cobra Jet Heads 429/460 Ford

Here is a set of Super Cobra Jet heads for a 429/460 Ford I recently did for a customer. Came to me already gasket matched and runners smoothed some. He wanted me to do some flow work on them to see what I could gain. Here are some baseline numbers I found posted:

My baseline flow test (after his work was performed) showed that there was a big turbulence issue! :bandhead: I don't think I have ever heard a head sound so bad on my bench before? Around .650 lift it falls on its face hard, not good since he wants to run a camshaft around .750 - .800 lift. Most of this particular issue was in the short side radius which had some big ledges below the seat:

I layed it back some and widened the window to correct the issue:

Followed by some hand blending:

Smoothed the bowls the rest of the way:

I retained the stock valve job in it due to his funds. I know there is some left on the table because of the throat %. I did do some backcuts on the intake valves which showed big gains! I also unshrouded the valves from the chamber wall. It is more of an issue on the exhaust side of these heads:

Flow results:
Lift---------------Baseline------------------Final
.100___________80.07______________76.59
.200__________146.03_____________186.91
.300__________214.82_____________273.96
.400__________279.07_____________333.25
.500__________333.25_____________377.21
.600__________370.05_____________398.68
.700__________339.39_____________403.31
.800__________334.28_____________410.98
Really good gains for the minimal work I did to them. I still feel there is alot left in them. We will see when time comes to freshen them up.
